My name is Zainab Adamu from Local government Gwoza, Under Borno.

We escaped from Boko Haram. They came at 1 in the night and they started  shooting all night, and they entered into houses. I got tired and decided to leave my home and go outside,  I left people at home. I wanted to go to my grand mothers house.

On my way, I came face to face with  some children from our area, they also had come outside. When two saw me, they said we will help you. They were asking me how I was when we turned the corner and met Boko Haram who started shooting at us.

They told us to stop walking and that if we didn’t they would kill us.  Then we started running some of my children ran I had to hold them.. One of the boys of my area that was helping me carry my baby,  refused to run and stayed in place,  another child that was staying with me they shot him.

They took my baby to their Emir,  the Emir said they should return the child to me. The boy that was carrying her decided to join their faith and they gave him a gun.  They brought the child to our neighbourhood and gave it to the boys family. Meanwhile I had gathered all my children and continued on my way to my family’s house.
